So, here's hoping that the more musically adventurous of you all took my advice and checked out Aimee Mann's new disc, THE FORGOTTEN ARM, because it's really quite beautiful. As I listened to it for the first time, I realized how much of the album I'd been lucky enough to hear already- either from her live disc, PASTE magazine, the itunes original she did... Favorite is still "Going Through the Motions", although I truly adore "Video" and "The King of the Jailhouse" as well. "Beautiful" is a special song, I love the last bit: "Beautiful... I wish you could see it, too- baby, how I see you" I love "She Really Wants You", but it is a bit of an "ouch" at the moment. "I Can't Help You Anymore" reminds me of The Boy Who Broke My Heart- wait, that's becoming quite the list- the first one. "i should know, but i don't know: that I can't help you anymore... Because baby, look what I have done- the ruins just go on and on. I've got to let it go now, or it will drag me under. So I can't help you anymore." She perfectly captures what it's like to see someone circling the drain and want to save them... only to realize that if you don't let go, you won't even be able to save yourself. It's just a really excellent album... and I'm sure one that people think is far too depressing to try. Whatever. I give up on trying to sell the music I like to people- they want their shiny, they want their happy. Blah blah.

Okay, I'm going to go add something insanely embarrassing to my ipod (look, you got me, it's Martika. fuck off.) and then watch hours and hours of GILMORE GIRLS!! Or minutes and minutes of GILMORE GIRLS before I fall asleep and wake up at about 11:30 bitching about the fact that I slept through a night off.
